Situated on the east side of Manhattan, Kips Bay is a secluded residential zone known for its casual atmosphere and close proximity to NoMad, Koreatown, Gramercy, Madison Square Park, and Midtown. Hillstone has classic American fare, while Brother Jimmy’s and Tipsy Scoop offer up barbecue and boozy ice cream, respectively. A variety of brunch spots are perfect for lazy weekends.
Shopping/Grocery
Little India and Kalustyan’s are iconic go-to spots for authentic Indian and South Asian ingredients, while Trader Joe’s and Fairway have all the basics and more covered when it comes to groceries. La Delice is an old-school pastry shop that’s over 80 years old. The neighborhood is also home to a good mix of boutique furniture stores and big brand labels like Bed Bath & Beyond.

The Kips Bay bar scene is plentiful and lively. Classic pubs, chic wine bars, upscale cocktail specialists, and dive and sports bars are all represented. Ampersand, HandCraft Kitchen & Cocktails, The Flying Cock, and The Gem Saloon are all worth checking out. Nearby Koreatown has a good selection of Karaoke bars for a fun night out, and NoMad has some high-end speakeasies.
